Technology in medicine is one of the most important components to the health of the people in our society today.  Machines and technology is a key component in hospitals all over the world and would be in shambles without such things.

Over the years I have used a running machine many times to benefit my training as an athlete and for my health.  It has proven to be vital in my training and here we see a quote talking about something similar.  "Two players must work together, one controlling the mechanical parts and the other controlling the organic ones. Cooperation is required for even the simplest tasks. Walking, running, jumping and gliding all require coordinated action from both players."(https://www.symbionic.net/).  Here the quote is talking about a machine that benefits the health of humans.  The walking and running are key to the success and health in your life.

"Medical Avatar builds mobile apps for hospitals to dramatically increase patient engagement for significantly improved patient outcomes"(Wong, VirgilWong.com). Virgil Wong created these mobile apps for people to use and benefit health.  In our world today it is important that people use things like applications to create and help others because most people all over the world are able to access an app on their mobile phone instantly.

For a while I have had shin splints and I went to get an Xray on them to make sure I hadn't broken or fractured anything.  The Xray machine told me that I did not thankfully have a more severe injury.  There is no other way to make sure I don't have an injury like that without the technology of an Xray.

The Industrialization of Robotics

Robotics have always been one of the most fascinating parts of technology and industrialization.  There are endless opportunities to accomplish with robotics.  "Slowly Nyx writes light-emitting poetry in full darkness. Letter after letter the glowing text pours slowly and compact out of the machine"(http://www.gijsvanbon.nl/).  Here is a video and an explanation of a type of robot that is being used to write letters on the cement what are glowing in the dark.

There is a robot that was made for the curiosity of the people.  The name of the robot is "Dirk the homeless robot."  He was an experiment and a successful one at that.  People will continue to become very curious about all these different types of robotics coming to play in our society.  The industrialization of robotics is changing not only the technological world, but also society in general.

elc"Electric Circus Is a collaboration between inventor Fred Abels and puppeteer Mirjam langemeijer. This collaboration has led to a unique form of street theater. With the help of modern techniques such as 'animatronics' together with masterful puppetry they create - indistinguishable from - animals and also a human!"(http://www.electric-circus.eu/).  Here is a cool and unique way for two people to continue to use robots as entertainment in their lives and work.

TatecDESMA9 Event #1

One of the first events I attended for the DESMA9 class was a workshop that was associated with the symposium at the beginning of the quarter.  The workshop was called "Understanding Arts Based Research: Workshops: Workout/Tune-Up/Turn On."  It was presented in the Experimental Digital Arts building at UCLA.  Linda Weintraub led the charge in organizing and speaking on many of the topics and the workshops that go along with them.

She led a series of the workshops, but I only attended the technology one.  We talked a lot about cell phones and the companies that make these cell phones.Image result for holding iphone

At the workshop we discussed what it was like having an Iphone or a a smartphone or any kind of cell phone.  How does it affect you and how can you make it too much of a priority in your life.  Your cell phone can be one of the most distracting if not the most distracting object in your life.  We talked about the physical and emotional issues us and other people experience with their cell phones and smart phones.

For me, emotionally my cell phone provides instant and constant communication with my friends and family.  I can be informed of incidents a anytime and that takes an emotional toll on me and my life. As for the physical side of using my IPhone, after a long day and i need some sleep, sometimes I open up my phone to look at and go through for a little while before I go to sleep.  My eyes become exhausted and my brain can't function at the level I want it to.  The physical exhaustion takes a huge toll on my body and sometimes it can create an unhealthy lifestyle.
