TatecDESMA9 Week 9

Art has many different areas to appreciate in todays society.  One of the most interesting areas that we get to study in the course is the portion of Art and Space.  When we are talking about art and space, there is one person who we cannot leave out of the conversation.  A person who has had an unbelievable impact on the specific topic of space and how it plays a big role in art.  That person is Nicolaus Copernicus.

His influence on art and space created a sense of pride for the people in the world of art because he was a very reputable source and scholar.  If not for Copernicus, there would not be as rich of an artistic culture for space being involved in art.  For his greatness there were few instances that he was referred to as "A hero of space" and that was not a coincidence.

Space is almost like one big masterpiece that was made from a great artist.  When you see pictures all over the internet of space it is miraculous.  People "ooo" and "Ahh" at the site of beautiful pictures and images of space.  it is one of the most fascinating places in the galaxy.  The reason space is considered art is because we have learned that there are many and almost everything we do use and see every day is a type or piece of art that we are able to appreciate in our lives.

The solar system is a place that there are many people who study it every day.  It is a place of wonder and question. What is it like in space? How far does it go?  The artist who designed the masterpiece that we call space, intended for us to never know and always keep us wondering about the great masterpiece.  Space is a piece of art and nobody can tell you different.  The opportunity to learn about space and art and how they are connected was a great pleasure and one I intend on taking about in the near future.

TatecDESMA9 Week 8

Nanoscience is a study for very few people, however these people have dedicated their lives to studying the science that is potentially very important to the twenty first century and the future of the human race.

Professor James K. Gimzewski is the nano scientist that is responsible for teaching and educating the kids of the new generation about nano science and nanotechnology.  Professor Gimzewski said that nano tech has the "potential to change the world in terms of social and economic types of values.  Many of the topics that have been covered throughout the class have proven to be vital to art and the suvival of the human race.  these topics are very important just like nano science and nanotechnology

At an exhibition for nanotechnology there was a quote from the website saying "Nano_essence is an interactive audio-visual installation where the viewer interfaces with the visual and sonic presentation through his or her own breath"(art.base.co).

In a nut shell there is a short and easy definition of Nanotechnology and it is "Nanotechnology is science, engineering, and technology conducted at the nanoscale, which is about 1 to 100 nanometers"(nano.gov).
Photo of Richard Feynman

There is a sense of urgency to nanotechnology because not many people know much about it. "Nanotechnology is so new, no one is really sure what will come of it. Even so, predictions range from the ability to reproduce things like diamonds and food to the world being devoured by self-replicating nanorobots"(howstuffworks).

For many years to come we will continue to learn about nanoscience and the technology from men and women from all over the world who are studying these life saving phenomenons.  The kids in school and studying every day is the key to the future of nano science and nanotechnology in the world.

TatecDESMA9 Event #2

I attended the event at the the beginning of the year.  It was a symposium talking about Art and research.  There were many professional and guest speakers that attended the event to share with the audience what they have learned and enjoy studying.  The event was called "Understanding Arts Based Research: Symposium.  There was multiple speakers and I had the pleasure of being able to listen and hear two of them speak about interesting topics.

Initially upon arriving at the symposium, there was a speaker who was talking much about Art for the future and specifically "Artistic responses to global challenges."  She explained that art is pertinent and vital to the success of our future.  There was talk of many social challenges and economic challenges as well.  According to the guest speaker, we should invite students to articulate and explore their own assumptions about "the future" and their ideas about what to do when change happens.  In the middle she emphasized the fact that people need to create opportunities for students to inhabit different orientations toward the future, by giving opportunities to engage in experimentation.

In the picture above you can see that there is a piece of art being displayed on the screen at the event as an example of why we need art to be important in our future.

Next and lastly the speaker talked about Understanding Global Cultures--Art for the Future.  Talking about this topic, the speaker covered some key understandings about facing global challenges in our world today and in the future.  Understanding cultures when faced with global challenge today is a key issue because it is necessary to understand some of the principle consequences of globalization for cultural identities.

TatecDESMA9 Week 7

Image result for the brainAs we watched in lecture this week, the professor was telling us that last week we learned about the body and now this week we are learning about the mind.  The brain and the mind is one of the most  fascinating parts of the human body.  The brain is what operates the mind and the body's functions.  The human brain is a work of art in itself so the mind is an even bigger work of art in the world.

Image result for proust neuroscience"Similarly, Proust beat neuroscientists to the punch in discovering that memory is faulty and always changing"(NY Times).  John Lehrer was a very influential person wen it came to neuroscience and the way that the memory of the human race works.  He was a dominating force in the community and that is why he was so famous and well known for his woks.  He beat his colleagues to the punch when the times mattered.  He wrote the book called Proust and became soon famous for it.

Picasso was one of the very most famous artists of all time.  There are few who rank higher than him in his area of specialty.  "Pablo Picasso once said, "We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize truth, at least the truth that is given us to understand. The artist must know the manner whereby to convince others of the truthfulness of his lies.""(CNN).   Being a great influencer in recent history art, Picasso shared with us his thought on what art is and we need to remember what he said to succeed and see the things differently.

People, Scientists, and Neuroscientists from all over the world have their own opinion about neuroscience. According to NPR radio, they wrote on their website "Neuroscience, after all, it is widely believed, holds the key to our very nature as conscious beings"(NPR.org).  What a powerful and compelling first sentence to start an article.   They are insinuating that the science is one of the most, if not the most important part of our existence.

TatecDESMA9 Week 6

In life we have many different types of things we like to compare.  Bio Technology and Art are a great example to be controversial and to talk about.

In this photo we see the technology in action.  The plant is held by a human hand as the bubbles go round and round the plant.  Many people believe that life itself is a valid expressive medium.  I believe that it is an expressive medium because life is an art and all kinds of art is a medium.

In an interview with Michael Pollan he talks about food, the food chain and incorporations that rule the United States food.  From the seed to a fully grown piece of food.

"One of the country's most invasive plants, sometimes dubbed the "super weed," may be getting even stronger" (KSL).  This is one of the most invasive plants on the planet and could be a danger to our society and farming.  The process of the plant takes out and eliminates the neighboring plants.  Our farming systems could be dangerously effected by this horrible plant.

Medicine Technology

Technology in medicine is one of the most important components to the health of the people in our society today.  Machines and technology is a key component in hospitals all over the world and would be in shambles without such things.
Image result for running machine
Over the years I have used a running machine many times to benefit my training as an athlete and for my health.  It has proven to be vital in my training and here we see a quote talking about something similar.  "Two players must work together, one controlling the mechanical parts and the other controlling the organic ones. Cooperation is required for even the simplest tasks. Walking, running, jumping and gliding all require coordinated action from both players."(https://www.symbionic.net/).  Here the quote is talking about a machine that benefits the health of humans.  The walking and running are key to the success and health in your life.

"Medical Avatar builds mobile apps for hospitals to dramatically increase patient engagement for significantly improved patient outcomes"(Wong, VirgilWong.com). Virgil Wong created these mobile apps for people to use and benefit health.  In our world today it is important that people use things like applications to create and help others because most people all over the world are able to access an app on their mobile phone instantly.

For a while I have had shin splints and I went to get an Xray on them to make sure I hadn't broken or fractured anything.  The Xray machine told me that I did not thankfully have a more severe injury.  There is no other way to make sure I don't have an injury like that without the technology of an Xray.
